Teddy Bears

Last week we made teddies. They looked so cuddly. We got to take them home. Some of them were very thin and others had a lot of stuffing in them. We made these for the end of our Identity topic to remind ourselves of all the things that we had learnt. We put a tag around the teddies neck that said, 'We are all unique and special so look after me.' We are using our sewing skills now in Christmas Craft Club to make Christmas decorations to sell at the Christmas Fayre.

Athletics

WOW ! What a day, the whole of class 3 went to the leisure centre. It was so fun! Out of all the class we got 25 certificates. There were all sorts of activities:

There was vertical, long and triple jump.

There was a chest throw and javelin.

That’s all of the warm ups, then we had the races:

1x1 relay, 2x2 relay, 6lap and 4x1.

We all put a lot of effort into getting bronze place!
But remember it’s about taking part and having fun.

The Police Visit

On the morning of the 24th October, we had the best morning in St. Hilda's history!!!! The brilliant police officer, Ann, came in and was telling us about CSI investigating. Although we knew so much about it we were telling her about everything! But then something TERRIBLE happened! A man came in and stole Anne’s phone!!!! She was very upset. After that we got our investigating heads on and started to investigate! We noticed something strange. There was a tissue with blood on it and a piece of paper with a handprint. Then we started to investigate… we firstly wrote things down on the piece of paper about what he looked like and what he was wearing. Then the thing we liked most we had to guess HIS AGE!!!! There were all sorts of combinations 18-21 20-30 and one person even thought he looked 40!! Then 2 class 3 girls went downstairs with Ann looking for the guilty phone stealer and they came back with the phone stealer. He was hiding under the stairs. Then we checked all our investigating to see if we had got it right. We had got everything right but his age. He was …………….26. I don’t think the boy who guessed 40 will be his best of friends!!!! After that Ann had a little surprise that we could have our fingerprints put on a bookmark of our own choice. Then we had another surprise! We got to sit in the vans police cell get locked in and Anne put the sirens on. It was very loud! We had a brilliant time.
Thanks Ann!

CSI Day

Oh, My, Gosh! Today was absolutely awesome! Do you know why? I’ll tell you why. So it all started when we entered school after the weekend and all got re-united. Surprisingly we weren’t allowed in the classroom so we ventured down to our school hall and sat sorting out our HOMEWORK…We were sat down there for about an hour and a half, we all had KILLER KRAMP! Wooaah do you know what? I’ll tell you what. Our class was a complete mess. Tables were upside down, chairs everywhere, equipment on the floor and the worst of all…OUR LAPTOP WAS GONE!!! All of our work was on there and now all we have left was the horrible mess and a sign that read: DO NOT LEAVE STAFF LAPTOPS UNATTENED OR ELSE! Sounds weird, right? We got into these freaky suits with electric blue gloves that were HUGE! We had carrier bags on our feet and we were absolutely boiling and we couldn’t wait until dinner so we could take them off. After we took them off we crammed them in our trays and stomped downstairs for lunch. Uurrggh, salmon nibbles, not the best but at least we had chips.

Not long after we had an idea of how we could find our criminal by making…

  • A timeline of events.
  • An evidence sheet.
  • An investigation board.

Once we decided who was doing what, we collected our pens, pencils and photos off Miss Allan so we could use them to decorate (pictures of these can be seen below). Once we collected our evidence we came to one criminal…MISS KAYE class 2’s teacher. Why would she do that? But after all of the excitement we were let into a little secret… IT WASN’T REAL! I must admit it was fun though.

Box 2 b fit

WOW! What a great day. All of St. Hilda’s School did Box 2 b fit with Skip 2 b fit Dave. We used the boxing pads for loads of different stages. One of them was where you were timed and you had to see how many bunny hops you could do! Some people did more than 70. Another one was where you had to stand in a maze board and you had to tilt the ball around the maze board.

Also there was one where you had to do a combination of 10 star jumps then 10 press-ups/sit ups and last of all there was push-ups. Golly gosh, we were all so tired. We all had such a fun today. It was great.

Skip 2 b fit

WOW! I can’t believe that I made it through the afternoon! Today the whole school did the skip 2 be fit challenge . We had to skip for 2 whole minutes! I know it doesn’t sound that long but let me tell you, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I think everyone enjoyed it including………… MISS ALLAN!                   She did it as well! I really liked the skipping ropes, they were AWESOME and I think everyone else liked them to. The thing about the skipping ropes was that they count how many skips you did. When I was doing it I thought you had to press button every skip you did, but it turns out that the button resets the score you got! So when we did the 2 minutes of skipping everyone was exhausted but it turned out that was our……… PRACTISE !

Girl's Football

WOW!! What a tiring day you know why? I’ll tell you why. It was the girl’s football tournament!! Even though we came 6th place it was the most amazing match we’ve ever had. We had about 7 matches. Teachers were really proud of us because we were the first girl’s team to ever get to the finals! We drew 4 and lost 3. BOO!! L Oh well it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have to say our goalie was AMAZING!! Brr!! It was freezing. The cold never bothered me anyway. I was wishing to get a warm hug. But before all this happened we had our first tournament.
On our first match we won 4 nil. Since I was playing in defence, Mrs Sedman kept telling me to stay back and be the last person. I didn’t like that at all but at least I scored a goal. Some of the schools play hard. I thought all they cared about was winning. But I didn’t… well maybe a teeny tiny bit. Ok I did, but we were there to have FUN. After what seemed like years we finished. “That was truly AWESOME.”

Bus Stop Maths

Today we went to about twenty five different places at the bus stop maths game at Eskdale! We went  from Cardiff to Skull town (I have no idea where it is but we went there!) but we first had to go Eskdale and we didn’t  have to move from Eskdale during the game. But we were a little bit late all of us chose a table with two people you didn’t know, but since were a bit late some of the school had to go to the same table. All of the places were games, there was an adding game, there were ordering games, there were matching games, there were puzzles, there was basically all types of games and our team did fourteen! Today was a really fun day!

RNLI

We had an exciting visit from the RNLI. They told us about the Rohilla Disaster. We acted out the RNLI lifeboat rescue. Everyone had a different role. Some people were lifeboat crew, some needed rescuing and others looked out towards the sea. It was lots of fun. We had to go to the Rohilla lifeboat because we were the lifeboat crew. Then we managed to save everyone.

Pearl of Africa Choir

On the 2nd October 2014 Year 5 went to Eskdale to watch the Pearl of Africa Choir.
 It was amazing.
After we went past these excellent bracelets and drums that people handmade that we could buy.
The drums were so soft and the friendship bracelets were so cool.
After all of that we learnt a song called Pamba Zuka.
It was so fun and the people who taught us it were very good
at singing. Here comes the cool part: we learnt how to dance! It was very fun to do but a little bit embarrassing! A year 5 girl got brought up to the front to dance because she was very good at doing it. The last thing we had to do was some games. The first thing we played was musical statues, it was very fun! Then we played a game called grouping.  Grouping is where you dance to some music and when you hear the music stop you have to get into group of which the number is given.

Bikeability

Today 2nd October four year 6’s didn’t have to work. All day we did biking, biking and more biking. We’re all very tired after the day we had. When we all got home we went in the bath and put are feet up! One girl for year 6 said, “it was really fun because I don’t really go on my bike at home so yah!” First we went around the playground going around cones.
Next we went around the estate.
Soon we got on the road a luckily we are all still here. We were even spying on Miss Allan’s house.

The Prodigal Son

Another tiring day at school again… anyway it was still fun! Do you want to know why it was fun? Yes you do!!! Anyway it started like this… Class 3 did a trial about the Prodigal son. The Prodigal son is about this youngest son that asks his father if he can have the share that he would own when his father dies. His father agrees and the youngest son sets out to explore the world, the oldest son became really jealous. Instead of exploring the world, the youngest son gambles and parties all night long. Once he lost all of his money, he works for a farmer, feeding pigs but since he didn’t have any money left, he had to eat the pig’s dinner. He came home one day wearing rags for clothing. He told his father that he wanted to be paid by him as a servant but the father ignored him and asked all the servants to get the finest robes on him. The oldest son was furious and jealous because he has been working all day at the farm but never had a party from his father.  In the trial, I was the Prodigal son, it wasn’t that bad, at least I didn’t go to jail. NOT!!! I actually did, that was an unfair choice by the jury. I said sorry to my father and I wanted to work for him as a servant but me and my father ended up in jail for 3 years for not loving unconditionally! But my “brother” didn’t end up in jail with us when he is the one that refused to go to the party and that he is the one that is so jealous of me because I had a party hosted by my father.

Sponsored Walk

So today was GREAT! We did a 1 mile walk with the whole school! We walked to this apple tree orchard and I got the most juicy, most red, most, well, amazing apple ever, but I kind of got an advantage because I’m tall. So when it was actually the walk the classes all got a partner to walk with, but my partner was poorly so I just tug along with people. It was quite cold but I didn’t mind. Class 1 thought it was so tiring and cold but the older ones didn’t really care. We all got asked to get some money because it’s a sponsored walk and my friend and I got around £90 -£100! When we came back from the apple eating walk we had our pack lunches, we got to sit on these massive hay bales. They were in this shed, there is a real name for them but I don’t know it. Oh! Also, we had these plastic sandwich bags which we had to put things in like stones, flowers and other fancy things. Then when we had to go back to school we all made a picture with what we collected on the walk.
Thanks to the teachers.
