Cards and Calendars

We have made some Christmas cards and calendars for the children to take home. On the calendars we decided to represent the four seasons, by having one tree with four different sections. We were so pleased with the result that we wanted to share them with you.

Christmas Fayre

Class 3 have been very busy preparing for the Christmas fayre, which was a huge success. They made candles, crafts, cards, decorations, cakes and their own games! We raised over £900 from the event. A big well done and thank you to everyone involved.

Christmas Cakes

Class 3 have been busy making Christmas Cakes to sell at our Christmas Fayre. We ended up making  two batches after the first batch visited the oven for a little longer than it needed! We had so much fun and are going to decorate them next week!

Christmas Crafts

Here is a sneak preview of what some of Class 3 have been making at Christmas Craft Club to sell at our Christmas Fayre. We have been very busy creating cards, decorations and candles to sell. We have even had some fantastic adult volunteers who have come to help us! We can't wait to show it off when everything is finished!

Networks

We have been learning about different computer networks so we acted them out. We made a tree network, a ring network, a star network, a bus network and a mesh network. Can you guess which picture represents which network?

Tomorrow's World

As part of our topic, 'Tomorrow's World', we have created a display with all our inventions which we think will become part of everyday life in the future! Can you spot the flying cars? How about the teleportation device?

Teddy Bears

Last week we made teddies. They looked so cuddly. We got to take them home. Some of them were very thin and others had a lot of stuffing in them. We made these for the end of our Identity topic to remind ourselves of all the things that we had learnt. We put a tag around the teddies neck that said, 'We are all unique and special so look after me.' We are using our sewing skills now in Christmas Craft Club to make Christmas decorations to sell at the Christmas Fayre.

Athletics

WOW ! What a day, the whole of class 3 went to the leisure centre. It was so fun! Out of all the class we got 25 certificates. There were all sorts of activities:

There was vertical, long and triple jump.

There was a chest throw and javelin.

That’s all of the warm ups, then we had the races:

1x1 relay, 2x2 relay, 6lap and 4x1.

We all put a lot of effort into getting bronze place!
But remember it’s about taking part and having fun.

The Police Visit

On the morning of the 24th October, we had the best morning in St. Hilda's history!!!! The brilliant police officer, Ann, came in and was telling us about CSI investigating. Although we knew so much about it we were telling her about everything! But then something TERRIBLE happened! A man came in and stole Anne’s phone!!!! She was very upset. After that we got our investigating heads on and started to investigate! We noticed something strange. There was a tissue with blood on it and a piece of paper with a handprint. Then we started to investigate… we firstly wrote things down on the piece of paper about what he looked like and what he was wearing. Then the thing we liked most we had to guess HIS AGE!!!! There were all sorts of combinations 18-21 20-30 and one person even thought he looked 40!! Then 2 class 3 girls went downstairs with Ann looking for the guilty phone stealer and they came back with the phone stealer. He was hiding under the stairs. Then we checked all our investigating to see if we had got it right. We had got everything right but his age. He was …………….26. I don’t think the boy who guessed 40 will be his best of friends!!!! After that Ann had a little surprise that we could have our fingerprints put on a bookmark of our own choice. Then we had another surprise! We got to sit in the vans police cell get locked in and Anne put the sirens on. It was very loud! We had a brilliant time.
Thanks Ann!

CSI Day

Oh, My, Gosh! Today was absolutely awesome! Do you know why? I’ll tell you why. So it all started when we entered school after the weekend and all got re-united. Surprisingly we weren’t allowed in the classroom so we ventured down to our school hall and sat sorting out our HOMEWORK…We were sat down there for about an hour and a half, we all had KILLER KRAMP! Wooaah do you know what? I’ll tell you what. Our class was a complete mess. Tables were upside down, chairs everywhere, equipment on the floor and the worst of all…OUR LAPTOP WAS GONE!!! All of our work was on there and now all we have left was the horrible mess and a sign that read: DO NOT LEAVE STAFF LAPTOPS UNATTENED OR ELSE! Sounds weird, right? We got into these freaky suits with electric blue gloves that were HUGE! We had carrier bags on our feet and we were absolutely boiling and we couldn’t wait until dinner so we could take them off. After we took them off we crammed them in our trays and stomped downstairs for lunch. Uurrggh, salmon nibbles, not the best but at least we had chips.

Not long after we had an idea of how we could find our criminal by making…

  • A timeline of events.
  • An evidence sheet.
  • An investigation board.

Once we decided who was doing what, we collected our pens, pencils and photos off Miss Allan so we could use them to decorate (pictures of these can be seen below). Once we collected our evidence we came to one criminal…MISS KAYE class 2’s teacher. Why would she do that? But after all of the excitement we were let into a little secret… IT WASN’T REAL! I must admit it was fun though.
